The Inspector General Act requires the Inspector General to keep the Commission and Congress fully and currently informed. The primary means is through issuance of semiannual reports during the 6-month periods, October 1 through March 31, and April 1 through September 30. These reports provide information related to the oversight of the Commission and its administration of programs and operations, as well as recommendations for corrective action concerning the problems, abuses, and deficiencies, and reports on the progress made in implementing the corrective action.
